Keith Biddlecombe was born on the Isle of Wight in 1936. He served in the Royal Navy in 1952 and was arrested and questioned in Malta under suspicion of being homosexual. He was sentenced to prison but released early for good behaviour. Biddlecombe was forced to rebuild a career for himself, eventually becoming a skilful costume maker and window dresser. Some of his work featured on Isle of Wight Carnival floats throughout the years, before he moved to Brighton in 2001.
