World Aids Day LGBTQ+ Networking Event at Quay Arts

December 1, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Out On An Island, Pride In Self Pride In Place presents World AIDS Day, at Quay Arts, Newport

Quay Arts was used for one of the UK’s first AIDS awareness events in the late 1980s.

Join us for lunch in Quay Arts Cafe. This is an opportunity to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness and to support people living with HIV, as highlighted in this year’s Channel 4 hit series, It’s A Sin which referenced the Isle of Wight.

LGBTQ+ community supporters
You can meet representatives from organisations who support the Island’s LGBTQ+ community including Anna Murray, Sexual Health Promotion Practitioner from Solent NHS Trust.

Volunteers from Out On An Island, Pride In Self Pride In Place can talk about this Isle of Wight LGBTQ+ history project.

National AIDS Trust is calling on you to #RockTheRibbon for people living with HIV this World AIDS Day.

Taking place annually on December 1, World AIDS Day is a time to stand up for those impacted by HIV, past and present, and call for a better future. By wearing the iconic red ribbon, you are joining a community that shows solidarity with people living with HIV while remembering lives lost.

The event will be followed by a practical workshop looking at the Memorial Quilt and recreating our own response to it.

1st December, 12pm – 2pm, at Quay Arts Cafe, Newport.
